Three Shades of . . .

. . . blue - every picture from this morning was cast in a blue hue.

Nothing exciting to fill the post - just normal Monday activities.

I woke up to wind and snow. I knew the wind was still blowing, because all night long I heard it! When I looked out the window, the snow was blowing horizontally! Yikes - I usually never run on Monday and figured this would be no different. So out the door Sophie and I went for a walk.

The morning was eerily blue from the falling snow.

The lake had frozen. It won't be long before the ice fishing begins! More blue.
Sophie loved the snow, running around and rolling at every opportunity.
This was the first real snow of the season. Last weeks snow fall was more of a dusting, while this mornings snow accumulated to a whopping 1 inch. You would not have known that it was only 1 inch based on traffic! It was crawling this morning - it took me about 30 minutes to get to work, when a "normal" commute takes 15 minutes. Work was so work like! I only had 1 meeting, which is extremely unusual - for example tomorrow I have 5 meetings! I actually got quite a bit done. Luckily by evening, traffic was back to normal.

On the cooking front, we had left over Broccoli Wild Rice casserole and it was just as good warmed up. There is plenty for tomorrow also!

Enjoy the moments.

I need to . . .

remain flexible with planned work outs because life, more specifically work often gets in the way.

This morning started with rain. I should have gotten up and run, but laying in bed while hitting the snooze button was just too comfy. After a few clicks of the snooze button, I did get up and took Sophie out for a quick walk. Out we went in the wet, dark morning. At that point, I realized that it was really more of a drizzle than rain and I REALLY should have gotten up to run! Too late - now on to plan "b", which was to run after work. Well, that fell through because I didn't get home until 8pm and was hungry and tired and just didn't feel up to a run. So the new plan . . . well, I have no idea! I have a 7am Pilates class tomorrow morning, so no long run in the morning. . .

maybe I will run 5-7 miles after work tomorrow!

No photo from today, but I will include a photo of Nutmeg and Sophie from this weekend.

enjoy the moments

Monday Monday

I am feeling melancholy. After a delightful weekend spent with Todd's brother and wife and quick trip to see his other brother and his wife in Fond du Lac - I am left in a melancholy mood - it actually started last week. So instead of working out of it - I am embracing it and will simply post a couple of pictures from my sunset walk with Sophie.

Lunch time walk

Since I am letting my stress fracture heal - and have not run for almost 3 weeks - I have been trying to walk at lunch. Normally I eat my lunch at my desk so that I can get more work done.

So here are a few pictures from my walk today. My office is in downtown Madison, one block from Lake Monona and about 5 blocks from the Capitol. I usually head east, through a neighborhood to enjoy my walk. It was super windy today - but warm. Beautiful.

First picture is from my office . . . it looks over our parking lot and off in the distance is Lake Monona.

These are a couple of pictures of the lake along one of the neighborhood streets.

Here were a couple of almost translucent tulips - scattered in a lawn that was not taken care of . . . but the tulips were beautiful.

On my way back to the office I stopped at Madison Sourdough Company for a baguette of sourdough for dinner. I had made Goulash and figured the bread would go really well. It was delicious - cruncy crust and soft inside. (sorry for the blur in lower left hand corner)
